These gluten-free slow cooker garlic beef tips with mushroom gravy are rich, hearty, and perfect for busy days. Unlike most recipes, there’s no need to sear the beef or use onion soup mix—just toss everything in the slow cooker before work for a delicious, comforting dinner that’s truly Celiac-safe.

There’s something magical about walking through the door at dinnertime and being greeted by the smell of a rich, slow-simmered beef dish. These Gluten-Free Slow Cooker Garlic Beef Tips with Mushroom Gravy are one of those comforting meals that taste like they took all day—because they did—but they only take 10 minutes of prep before you leave the house or head into your office.
A Celiac-Safe Comfort Classic
Most recipes like this call for onion soup mix or other seasoning packets that are often not gluten-free. I wanted to create a version that was not only safe for our Celiac family but didn’t compromise on that deep, savory flavor. With a few simple pantry spices and fresh ingredients, this version gets its flavor from real food, not fillers.
A Weeknight Win
One of the best parts? No searing required. While many beef tip recipes have you brown the meat before slow cooking, this one skips that step entirely. It all goes straight into the slow cooker. That means this is a true dump-and-go dinner, perfect for a busy work morning.
How We Serve It
I usually pair these beef tips with my creamy mashed potatoes, but they’re also amazing over gluten-free egg noodles or rice. It’s a versatile base for whatever you have on hand. Add a green veggie or dinner salad on the side, and dinner is done.
Meal Prep & Leftovers
This recipe also reheats beautifully. The flavors deepen overnight, so leftovers (if you have any!) are a treat the next day.

1
Searing the Beef
Most recipes like this recommend searing the beef prior to adding to slow cooker, but I've found this is not necessary. If you want to try it, saute onions and sear beef in olive oil then transfer to slow cooker.
2
Garlic
While I typically use fresh garlic in most recipes, jarred minced garlic works great for this and saves time.
3
GF Beef Broth
You can always use more beef broth. I like to add enough so that all the beef sits in the broth to cook.
Notes

1
Add beef, onions, garlic, and mushrooms to slow cooker. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

2
Add wine, beef broth, Worceshire sauces, and spices to slow cooker (not cornstarch).

3
Stir well, cover with lid, slow cook for 6- 8 hours.

4
About an hour (or half hour) before serving, reserve 8-16 oz. of the broth and cool for 5-10 minutes. Mix in cornstarch to create slurry. Then add to slow cooker and stir well. Allow to thicken over next 30 -60 minutes.

5
Serve over mashed potatoes.
